Birefringence Measurements on Substitutionally Random Two-Dimensional Antiferromagnets K_2Ni_<1-x>Co_xF_4

Birefringence study of the nearest-neighbour spin correlation function wasperformed on the quadratic layer substitutionally random antiferromagnetKzNi.-,Co,F. (0<,X'<1). The system is found to exhibit two-dimensional Isingcritical behaviour within the nearly same reduced temperature region as the pureK2C0F4. The Neel temperature has a convex dependence on the substitutionalconcentration x with a maximum. The phase diagram of this mixture is discussedby introducing a model Hamiltonian.
