EPR in the Impure Heisenberg Linear Chain CsMn_<1-x>Co_xCl_3・2H_2O

The room-temperature EPR linewidth is reported in the impure Heisenberglinear chain CsMn) .CO.Cl3'2I-120 (.X'<0.023). ,X small concentration of Co"has two significant effects on the linewidth. One is an additional broadening dueto the Co-Mn exchange interaction combined with the Co" spin-lattice relaxa-tion. The other is a line-narrowing resulting from the inhibitation of the spindiffusion in chains. The former is isotropic and increases linearly with the Coconcentration. The latter is anisotropic and refers dominantly to the interchaindipolar contribution to the Iinewidth, in consistence with a picture in which theintrachain four-spin correlation functions decay faster than the interchain ones.
