In medium q. (g.: 3) discharges, enhanced radiation loss power due to increasedplasma-wall interaction plays an important role in the growth of low frequencyoscillations. The m=2 tearing mode seems to be the most plausible cause of thedisruption. The reduction of the impurity is essential in realizing thc stabledischarges of medium q.. Attainable q. is reduced with decreasing radiation losspower. In low q. (g.< 2) discharges, no enhancement of the radiation loss powerwas observed until the disrur>tion. The r>Iasma disrur>is at ct.";2. The m=2 kinkniode is the prop:;able cause of the disruption. Attainable q. is reduced withdecreasing the ratio of shell radius to plasma radius. The possibility of the shellstabilization against the m":2 kink mode is proposed,
