Ari excess line was observed across the 220 thermal diffuse spot on diffractionphotographs of a germanium crystal in the Laue arrangement by usingmonochromatized synchrotron radiation of wavelength 1.5405 A. The excess line isexplained to be caused by anomalous transmission of thermally scattered X-rays inthe absorbing perfect crystal.
