On the Origin of Arcing in a Tokamak

Experimental study of arcing is made in JET-2 tokamak. Arcing is accompaniedwith the X-ray emission from a limiter. It is the most probable cause of arcingthat accelerated electrons supply the large negatively biased potential to thelimiter and offer the sufficient sheath potential to produce arc spot. This modelwell exr>Rains the monopolar arcinu rhenomenon in the current risin: r>hase andin the plasma disruption phase.
