Study of Single Crystal Fe_2TiO_4 by the Measurement of Magnetization and Mossbauer Spectra

A sinule crvstal of FezTi0.a was srown with an infrared ra>r imase furnace andits maxnetization and M6ssbauer srectra were measured. In a sr>ecimen sctueezedalong [0013, we found that, at 77 K, the tetragonal axis and the spontaneousmoment are fixed along [0014, with a slight deviation in (110) or (ITO) plane(about 10x20') for the moment, In M6ssbauer measurement, it was observedthat the sharpness of the spectrum was largely affected by the domain distribution.We found several peaks which is ascribed to a special group of Fe" ions. Weconclude that the E.F.G.Z axis of these Fe" tons is vertical to the hyperfinemagnetic field I-I. and they are on B sites with 3d electron orbitals spreading likethat of d?,. or de,..
