NMR Studies on Microscopic Magnetic Properties of Zr_<1-x>Nb_xZn_2 System

The temperature and magnetic field dependence of the internal fields II. at"Nb and "Zr in a ternary compound Zr. .Nb,Zn. (0.02:<,X'$0.20) has beenstudied by a pulsed NMR technique. The measurement of the magnetizationM shows that the H./I-I vs M/H plot for "Nb and "Zr in Zrg.g5Nb...,Zn. hasa linear relationship over the ferromagnetic and paramagnetic state. From theseresults, the respective values of the 4d-moments of Nb and Zr atoms and thecore-polarization hyperfine field were estimated to be p'J"7pj': 1.5 (pf'=0.l4 jt.and gj'=0.O95 p. at 1.1 K and zero field) and H..(d)"= -29 k0e, on theassumption that H..(#)" is the same as that in ZrZn.. The 4d-orbital Knightshifts for "Nb and "Zr in Zr..g 5 Nb..g 5 Zn.. were estimated to be 0.8'% andO.6'%, respectively. It was suggested from this work that 7t$" decreases ratherrapidly than pK' does with increase of the Nb concentration from ,x=0.O2.
