NMR Studies on Magnetic Impurity Effects in Type II Superconducting (La_<1-n>Gd_n)_3 Al and (La_<1-n>Ce_n)_3 Al Systems

The host "Al nuclear spin-lattice relaxation in the normal and superconductingstates of the (La. .Gd.). Al and (La. .Ce.). AN systems has been studied for lowimpurity concentration and over wide ranges of temperature (1.2 -20 K) and field(6.8 -13.5k0e). The measurecl relaxation rate I/T. shows strong impurity con-centration and field dependences in both the normal and superconducting states. Ananalysis of the experimental results indicates that the direct process induced by thelongitudinal dipolar fluctuations of the localized magnetic impurity moment plays animportant role. The results are compared with the pair breaking theory qualitatively inthe vicinity of the superconducting transition temperature.
