Electrical Resistivity,Magnetization and Specific Heat Measurements on Stable Trivalent Compound Ce_2Zn_<17>

Experimental results of electrical resistivity, magnetization and specific heat onsingle crystal specimens of Ce.Zn., have been reported and analyzed by means of asingle ion Hamiltonian model. There appeared a sharp peak in the specific heat due toa phase transition from paramagnetic to antiferromagnetic states. The antifer-romagnetic state was characterized as a lower-dimensional Ising-type. It became clearthat the crystal field had a substantial effect on true magnetic susceptibility and the electrical resistivity. There was no evidence of the dense Kondo effect for the electrical re-sistivity. These experimental results show that Ce.Zn., is a rare cerium compoundwith the stable valence.Ce.Zn., Crystal Field Effect, Magnetic Phase Transition
