Comparison of Cu-Site Substitution Effects of Magnetic and Nonmagnetic Atoms on the Normal State Properties of La_<2-y>Sr_yCuO_4 up to About 1000K

• Cu-site substitution effects on variotms quantities of high-V'c oxides have been investigated byusing sintered sample series of Laj.gzSrg.ggCuj .1VI.O4 (IVI : IVIg,Mn) and Laz .Sr.Cu) .lVI.O,j(IVI : Ti, Co), where in the latter systems with trivalent impurity elements, (y - x) was fixedin each series to keep the carrier concentration to be constant. Results obtained previously forthe sample series with M :: Zn and Ni are also discussed for comparison. Hall coefficients 7?jjand therrnoelectric powers S are enhanced by tnagnetic impurities, while all the nonmagneticimpurities suppress thern almost equally. Substitution effects of Co which undergoes the lowspin-high spin crossover with increasing temperature, can also be understood by this framework.The results indicate importance of the magnetic correlation for the behavior of f? and .5.
