Neutron Scattering Study on Metal-Insulator Transitions of BaCoS_2 Induced by External Pressure and by Ni-Doping

lVIagnetic excitation spectra of' Bacon .cN1xSw, xvhich hats 21 layered strtrcttrre and exhil.>itsMolt metal-instrlator (IVI-I) transition with varying I and/or with increasing external pressure,have been measured and analyzed. The randorn phase treatnaent has been found to be ?tble tobasically describe the observed dynamical magnetic behavior except in the ternperattrre regionwhere the untrunsuc tnagnettc correlation length is larger than the average separation of Ni atorns.The characteristic energy of the spin fltrcttration in txvo kinds of rnetallic phases induced by theNi-doping and by the external pressure p are ratlner dif['errent. These resvxlts indicate that thepressure-induced Mott transition is mainly driven by the irrcrease of tlte transfer energy, whilethe doping-induced transition is driven by the deviation of' the electron nurnber of each relevantband frona unity.
