Spin Structure of S=1/2 Quantum Spin System CaV_3O_7

The spin structure of magnetically ordered CaV3O7 has been determined by neutron powderdiffraction. The structtrre is different frotn that expected within a simjcle classical Heisenbergmodel and therefore qttantum efl'ects seeraa to be significant in this system. By comparing theordered unornents of V" spins at two distinct sites with those derived trsing the modified spinwave theory [Kontani cl (27.: J. Phys. Soc. Jpn. 65 (1996) 1566.1, information on the exchangecoupling constants between V-spins can be obtained.
