On the Magnetic Symmetry of the Low Temperature Phase of ZnCr_2O_4(Condensed matter: electronic structure and electrical, magnetic, and optical properties)

It was disclosed that both magnetic field along the <111> and pressure along the <100>, applied during cooling of a ZnCr_2O_4 single crystal through T_N, affect the intensities of magnetic peaks of neutron diffraction below T_N. Magnetic field along the <100> axis have no effect on the magnetic intensities. This fact indicates that the magnetic symmetry of the low temperature phase of ZnCr_2O_4 is monoclinic or lower.
