On the Threshold Criterion for Dilutely Pinned Type II Superconductors

The summation problem to get a global pinning force is discussed with astatistical method for a dilutely pinned superconductor. In the present theory,the long-range correlation among local pin-fluxoid interactions is taken intoaccount, while this type of correlation has been disregarded in existing theories.It is shown that the fluxoid lattice can be displaced rather easily, whereas it hasa rather large stiffness against a local distortion around each pin as known well.The resultant large compliance of the fluxoid lattice for displacements reducesthe threshold level significantly. The present pinning force density obeys thescaling law which has been known as characteristic of a diJute]y and weaklypinned case. The elementary pinning strength estimated from observed data bythe use of the present theory shows a reasonable value.
