Josephson Junctions with Superconducting Barriers

DC characteristics of Josephson junctions with thin super-conducting barriers are discussed with the aid of the Ginzburg-Landau equations. The main difference of the present junctions from the Josephson junctions proposed so far lies in the fact that the barrier is composed of a thin superconductor in the superconducting state. It is shown that maximum dc current densities of present junctions can be at most 10^5 times of those of typical Josephson junctions with dielectric barriers. The oscillating powers of present elements are expected to be greatly increased from those of typical Josephson oscillators.
