Exchange-Correlation Effects on Conductance Resonances in Narrow Channels

Conductance resonances in narrow channels of finite length are investigated theoretically. The electron-electron interaction is modeled by the 1/r^2 interaction for the one-dimensional system confined with harmonic potential. We obtain the exact ground state for the model and calculate the resonant energies for the system weakly coupled to reservoirs. We find that the conductance displays resonances with two independent periods reflecting the infernal spin degrees of freedom.
