Temperature Dependence of Ultrasonic Attenuation Coefficient and Elastic Constant for Heavy-Fermion System UPt_3

The ultrasonic attenuation coefficient and the elastic constant are investigated forthe heavy-fermion system UPt,. The effects of the antiferromagnetic spin fluctuationare taken into consideration by means of the hydrodynamic theory. It is shown thatthe spin thermal fluctuation gives rise to the peak structure for the attenuationcoefficient near the temperature characteristic of the antiferromagnetic spin fluctua-tion. Furthermore, it is expected that the elastic constant has a dip structure in thesame temperature regime due to the same origin. 7[he above results are qualitatively inagreement with the experimental findings for UF't,.
