Integrity of Plasmid Deoxyribonucleic Acid after Application of Laser-Induced Stress Waves Used for Gene Transfection

We investigated the effects of laser-induced stress waves (LISWs) on the integrity of plasmid deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). Plasmid DNA buffer was exposed to LISWs generated by the irradiation of a solid target with nanosecond laser pulses. Electrophoresis assessment revealed that the plasmid DNA was not affected by the application of LISWs under the conditions used for our previous gene transfection experiments, suggesting a low invasiveness of LISW-mediated gene transfection.
