The cyclotetrasilanes of the type [(PhRSi)<SUB>4</SUB>] (R=<I>t</I>-Bu; <I>t</I>-BuCH<SUB>2</SUB>) were prepared by the reductive coupling of the corresponding dichlorosilanes (PhRSiCl<SUB>2</SUB>) with lithium.
