It was found that ketones and aldehydes can be effectively reduced <I>via</I> catalytic hydrosilylation using triethoxysilane and trimethoxysilane in the presence of RhCl(PPh<SUB>3</SUB>)<SUB>3</SUB> or RuCl<SUB>2</SUB>(PPh<SUB>3</SUB>)<SUB>3</SUB>, followed by ethanolysis or methanolysis.
