• γ-Hydroxyglutamic acid was prepared easily via 3-ethoxycarbonyl-5-methoxycarbonyl-2-isoxazoline, which was the 1,3-dipolar adduct of methyl acrylate and ethyl cyanoformate <I>N</I>-oxide.
