Both, Geranium nepalense, introduced from Nepal and the Japanese plant G. thunbergii contain geraniin. In order to investigate which of the two is a more useful medicinal plant, comparative cultivation of the two species, was performed, and measurement of their dry weight and determination of their geraniin content were carried out. The comparative studies of seasonal variations in plant dry weight and geraniin content showed that G. nepalense contains more geraniin, but is lower in the plant dry weight than G. thunbergii. It became clear that of the two plants containing geraniin, G. nepalense is of practical value.
