(+)-Demethylcycloheximides (2〜4) and (±)-4-[2-(3-isopropyl-6-methyl-2-oxocyclohexyl)-2hydroxyethyl]-2,6-piperidinedione (5) were synthesized by an aldol condensation of the respective ketones (6) with 4-(2-oxo-ethyl)-2,6-piperidinedione (8). Their biological activities were examined against fungi, rice seedlings and lettuce seeds, but only some of them showed weak activity.
