Energy and Angular Distributions of Kinetic Electrons Emitted from a Solid Surface Due to Grazing Incidence of Protons

A Monte Carlo simulation is performed to analyze the energy and angular distribution of electrons emitted from a carbon surface under grazing incidence of 10-300 keV protons. The calculated energy distribution has a high-energy tail which does not appear in the case of normal incidence, as well as a large low-energy peak. The angular distribution deviates from the well-known cosine dependence on the emission angle measured from the surface normal.
