A water-insoluble β-D-glucan designated as OL-2,[α]^<20>_D : -0.1° (0.5N NaOH), was isolated from a fungal crude drug, "Raigan" (dried fruiting body of Omphalia lepidescence). The results of periodate oxidation and methylation studies indicated that OL-2 possessed a highly branched structure consisting of 1,3- and 1,6-linked β-D-glucopyranosyl residues.
