Four tuber-forming substances in Jerusalem artichoke were isolated from the leaves. The structures were established by spectroscopic methods as jasmonic acid (2), methyl β-D-glucopyranosyl tuberonate (3), and two new Polyacetylene compounds, methyl β-D-glucopyranosyl helianthenate A (4, C_<19>H_<24>O_8) and B (5, C_<17>H_<22>O_8).
