Three mechanical foam-breakers operating on similar principles, namely, a spray nozzle (SN), a fluid impact dispersion apparatus (FIDA) and a mechanical foam-breaker with a rotating disk (MFRD), were examined quantitatively for differences in foam-breaking capacity in terms of total input power P_T and kinetic energy P_K of the dispersed liquid required at the critical state for foam-breaking.The MFRD gave the best performance of the three foam-breakers, being effective in much lower ranges of P_T and P_K than the SN and the FIDA.
