Effect of Disk Diameter on the Foam-Breaking Capacity of a Mechanical Foam-Breaker with a Rotation Disk

Using a mechanical foam-breaker with a rotating disk(MFRD), changes of the foam-breaking capacity were measured on varying the disk diameter in aerated vessels both with and without mechanical agitation. Based on these measurements, the range of the disk diameter effective for foam-breaking was investigated. The experimental results showed that the effective lower and upper limits of the disk diameter were approximately 50% and 80% of the vessel diameter respectively, regardless of the operating conditions of the aerated vessel.
