Effect of Adjuvant Iridium-192 Brachytherapy on the Survival of Patients with Malignant Gliomas

悪性グリオーマに対するbrachytherapyの有用性について検討した。対象は悪性グリオーマ83例で、内訳はastrocytoma gradeIII 42例、glioblastoma 41例であった。放射線治療費として50例は外照射のみ、33例は外照射とbrachytherapyの併用であった。外照射のみの群の生存期間の中央値は、12.2ヶ月、brachytherapy併用群で23.7ヶ月であった。Brachytherapyを併用することにより有意に生存期間の延長を認めた。また、多変量解析では、組織型、部位、Karnofsky performance status及びbrachyteharapy併用の有無が予後に関係していたが、これらのfactorのなかでbrachytherapy併用の有無が最も重要なfactorであった。
