Momentum distribution of annihilation y rays from several alkali halide crystalshas been measured using high resolution 10 angular correlation apparatuses. Forma-lion of Bloch-type positronium (Ps) in NaBr and RbCl has been newly confirmed, while no evidence for it has been seen in LiF, KF, and Csl. l)ffective mass of the Ps inthe Bloch state has been determined by analyzing the low terx?perature behavior of thePs momentum distribution. The effective mass is larger than the free Ps mass invacuum in all the alkali halides investigated. Detailed analysis of the temperaturedependence of the Ps momentum distribution has been made on Kl and KBr. Temper-ature induced transition to the self-trapped state as previotusly reported in NaF andKCI has been observed also in these materials.
