Monte Carlo Simulation for Ising Spins on the Corner-Sharing Tetrahedron Lattices

We have studied tnagnetic ordering of f'rtrstrated classical Ising spins on the antif'errounagneticcorner-sharing tetrahedron lattices in one, two and three dizaaerasions together with one diunen-sional triangle lattice by uaaeans of ]VIonte Carlo simtrlation. If' the interaction is confined tothe nearest neighbors, the corner-sharing tetrahedron systetns in all dimensions exhibit no longrange order and spins in each tetrahedron plaqtrette are in the six-fold degenerate antif'eromagnetic ground state at low teuauperstttrres as governed by the "ice rtrle". The residtral entropy perspin of the two and three dizmensional arrays of tetrahedra, O.2O2k?, indicates thease systems tobe less f'rustrated than the triangular and the Kagona! l;rttices. The fact that no appericiable difference is observed betxveen the two ztnd the three dimensional lattices indicates that the orderingin each plaqtrette plays the most iumportant role in the ordering process in these lattices. As fernperatture is raised, spins of each plaquette flucttrate predominantly between only two states withreversed spin configurations of the six ground states dtre to the correlation atnong plaquettes.Simultaneous flip of' the fotrr spins in a plaqtrette gives rise to the fltrctttations betxveen the twogrotrnd states althotrgh each flip is conaposed of several steps of' single or dotrble flips.
