NMR Study of the Nonmagnetic Impurity Effect on Spin Frustration in CsCoCl_3

A"' Cs NMR experiment is performed to study the nonmagnetic impurity effect onspin frustration in the hexagonal compound CsCoCl, which shows successivemagnetic phase transitions at T..= 21 K and T.. ' = 9 K. In the low-temperature phasebelow T.., an inhomogeneous ferrimagnetic state is realized in an impure crystal containing 1 .0 at % Mg ions, in which the local spin structure has the same ferrimagneticconfiguration as it does in the pure case. The NMR signal clisappears completely inthe intermediate region between 1.2 and T.., suggesting a strong impurity effect onthe spin dynamics.
