Low Temperature NMR Study of Quasi-One-Dimensional Planar Ferromagnets in a Magnetic Field

NMR in quasi-one-dimensional Ni" salts, CsNiF3 and TMTNC is studiedin an external field up to 35 kG in Iiq. He temperature ra?age. The easy-plane-type(planar) anisotropy of these salts is confirmed from the measurements of'thenuclear relaxation tjtne as well as NMR shift. When II is applied in the easy plane,the spin fluctuations are strotagly suppressed by a relatively low field, as evi-danced by a saturated behavior of the hyperfine field and also by a rapid decreaseof the transverse relaxation rate Tz ' variutg as fI="". In a high field of thisconfiguration tlte spin dyutamics can be well described by spiua-wave excitatioxascharacteristic to the planar ferromagnets. III contrast, for H j c:asy-plane, thesystems behave paramagnetically and still show one-dimensionctl fluctuations,giving rise to a divergent behavior of Tz ' with decreasing tempera.ture as T=".
