Theory of Spin-Polarized Auger Electrons from Ferromagnetic Materials

Our previous theory of spin-polarized L.,M.,M., Auger electrons from fer-romagnetic materials is improved by taking account of the life time broadening T. inthe Auger initial state and the spin-orbit interaction in the 2p state. Experimental dataof Auger electrons from Fe..B., are re-analysed by using revised parameter values forthe exchange interactions (the exchange constant J. between 3d and 2p spins and J.between 3d and 3p spins), which are essentially important in the spin polarization ofAuger electrons. It is shown that the effect of J. is strongly affected by T.. A possibilityof another mechanism for the spin polarization is also discussed.
