X-Ray Study of the Phase Transition in K_2Mn_2(SO_4)_3

By X-ray diffraction together with optical observation of domains, the spacegroup of potassium-manganese langbeinite K.Mn.(SO.). wzas determined in theboth high and low temperatuare phases. It is determined that K.Mn.(SO.). isof the space groups T'-P2.3 and D:-P2.2.2. at room temperature and at -82'C,respectively. The lattice constant almost linearly decreases with decreasingtemperature in the high temperature phase and splits into three orthorhombicaxes at -7'2.'C. The lattice constants a, b, c in the low tetnperature phase alsolinearly decrease with decreasing temperature.
