Dielectric Properties of Two-Phase Mixture Ceramics Composed of Rutile and Its Compounds

Dielectric properties of two-phase mixture systems including rutile (TiO_2) have been investigated. One of its binary compounds-MnTiO_3, ZnTiO_3, PbTiO_3 and Al_2TiO_5-was chosen as the second component. Dielectric constants ε_r and their temperature coefficients τ_ε were first examined at 1 MHz. Dielectric properties in the microwave frequency region were measured in the TE_<011> mode of a cylindrical specimen. The temperature coefficient of resonant frequency, τ_f, of MnTiO_3 was negative, and a zero coefficient was found at an intermediate composition x=0.13 in the (1-X) MnTiO_3-xTiO_2 system. In the PbTiO_3-TiO_2 system, zero τ_ε composition was confirmed at low frequencies, but composition modification trials aiming to make microwave dielectric measurements possible were unsuccessful throughout the entire system.
