Efficiency of Dislocation as a Sink for Vacancies in Deformed Aluminum

Tlae anuaealing of vacancies in deforuaaed a]u?minu?ta was studied by electricalresistance n'reasureuvaents. The renaarkable results are suntmarized as follows (i)decay rate of vacancies decreases witla the increase of strain E for the defox'naation,in spite of the high density of dislocations introdt?ced by the deformation, (if)the apparent activation energy w'laich was deternained by the change of slopenaethod d uring the annealing becoxnes larger with the strain, (iii) the jtunap nuxaaberof vacancy in deformed specintens has an alxaeost constant value during theannealing for each specinaen. These results are explained in terms of the efficiencyof dislocation as a sink for vacancies, and it is concluded that the naain contribu-tion to the efficiency COJIICS fro?aa the line tension of dislocations constrainedgeonaetrically.
