Phase Structure of the SU(3) Gauge-Higgs System.II : Adjoint Higgs : Particles and Fields

The phase structure of the SU(3) adjoint Higgs model is studied by a Monte Carlo simulation. We report the results of the simulation carried out on a four-dimensional euclidean lattice of size 3^4 and 6^3 × 3. We find clear signals of the transition from a symmetric phase to broken ones. At finite temperature, the broken Higgs phase consists of three parts, i.e., the SU(2) × U(1)-confined phase, the U(1)-Coulomb and SU(2)-confined normal Higgs phase, and the finite temperature Higgs phase with SU(2) × U(1) Coulomb interactions. We conjecture that the last one will disappear at zero temperature. The symmetric phase is divided into two by a deconfining transition. The deconfined symmetric phase will disappear at zero temperature.
