The crystallization in basic aqueous solution of the alumina hydrate gel prepared by the homogeneous precipitation method was studied by means of powder X-ray diffraction analysis. The alumina hydrate gel prepared from Al_2(SO_4)_3 and (NH_2)_2 CO crystallized as bayerite and lithium aluminum oxide hydrate in LiOH aqueous solution, and as bayerite, hydrargillite, and pseudo-boehmite in KOH aqueous solution. The alumina hydrate gel prepared from NaAlO_2 and ClCH_2CH_2OH crystallized as bayerite and lithium aluminum oxide hydrate in LiOH aqueous solution, and as bayerite, hydrargillite, and pseudo-boehmite in KOH aqueous solution. When 1,4-C_4H_8O_2 or C_2H_5OH was added to LiOH or KOH aqueous solution, the crystallization proceeded with the same products as when no organic reagent was added. The alumina hydrate gel obtained by each of the preparative method easily crystallized as hydrargillite, when LiOH aqueous solution contained C_2H_4(OH)_2 was used. When KOH aqueous aolution contained C_2H_4(OH)_2 was used, the alumina hydrate gel obtained by each of the preparative method hardly crystallized as hydrargillite for the larger amount of C_2H_4(OH)_2 added. The alumina hydrate gel prepared by each of the preparative method crystallized as lithium aluminum oxide hydrate, when LiOH aqueous solution contained C_3H_5(OH)_3 was used. When KOH aqueous solution contained C_3H_5(OH)_3 was used, the alumina hydrate gel prepared from Al_2(SO_4)_3 and (NH_2)_2CO remained amorphous, while that prepared from NaAlO_2 and ClCH_2CH_2OH crystallized as pseudo-boehmite.
