Organic compounds have specific ionization potentials, and their ionization requires energy larger than the ionization potential of each compound. If the energy is Provided by light, ionization occurs at a wavelength shorter than that equivalent to the ionization potential, and the starting wavelength of ionization indicates the energy equivalent to the ionization potential of the material. In this paper the possibility of qualitative analysis of organic materials by use of photometrically measured ionization potential was shown with some experimental data. Measurements were made for single and polycomponent systems, and several kinds of organic compound were able to be identified by this method.
