We studied the fabrication of high critical temperature (high-$T_{\text{c}}$) LaBa2Cu3Oy (La123) superconducting thin films using the vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) growth mode. Although a La123 superconductor has a high possibility for the highest $T_{\text{c}}$ among the REBa2Cu3Oy materials, the severe lanthanum substitution for barium site depresses the $T_{\text{c}}$. In this work, to improve the $T_{\text{c}}$ of La123 films, we compared the films obtained by conventional vapor growth with those by the VLS growth. As a result, the crystallinity of the VLS growth film was superior to that of the conventional growth film. The maximum zero resistance temperature reached 83.5 K. It was concluded that the VLS growth mode could control the formation of RE1+xBa2-xCu3Oy solid solutions.
