Binuclear copper(II) complexes with 3-[2-(dialkylamino)ethylthio]-1-propanols, Cu[R<SUB>2</SUB>N(CH<SUB>2</SUB>)<SUB>2</SUB>S(CH<SUB>2</SUB>)<SUB>3</SUB>O]X (R=CH<SUB>3</SUB>, C<SUB>2</SUB>H<SUB>5</SUB>; X=NO<SUB>3</SUB><SUP>−</SUP>, ClO<SUB>4</SUB><SUP>−</SUP>), were prepared and their magnetic properties were investigated in the temperature range 80–300K. The magnetisms were interpreted in terms of the Bleaney-Bowers equation with exchange integral −<I>J</I>=450–495 cm<SUP>−1</SUP>, which is much larger than the values (−<I>J</I>=≈250 cm<SUP>−1</SUP>) for Cu[R<SUB>2</SUB>N(CH<SUB>2</SUB>)<SUB>2</SUB>NH(CH<SUB>2</SUB>)<SUB>3</SUB>O]X.
