Twenty-two cases of the jumbling phenomenon were reviewed and the results obtained were as follow:1. Among them, twenty-one cases were treated with aminoglycoside antibiotics prior to the onset of the jumbling phenomenon.2. It is necessary to ask whether jumbling can occur when the patient is in motion. Otherwise this phenomenon may be missed since the patient sometimes complains only of vertigo or hearing loss.3. There seemed to be no relationship between the onset of the jumbling phenomenon and the dose of streptomycin injection. Three cases were observed in which the patients exhiditeb the phenomenon with minimal doses of streptomycin (below 10g).4. Equilibrium examination revealed conspicuous abnormality in the righting reflex in response and stepping test. In contrast various results were obtained in response to the caloric stimulation ranging from no response to moderate exitability.5. There was, some tendency toward inprovement in those who received aminoglycoside antibiotics.
