A study of vertebral rotation after thoracolumbar spinal injury.

Thoracolumbar vertebral rotations were measured for 27 thoracolumbar spinal injuries and 10 controls by using an auxiliary tool.Normal range of rotation was about 70 degrees. On the other hand, in the spinal injury group, range of rotation was decreased. Especially, range of rotation in the operated group was smaller than that in the conservatively treated group.And another result showed that there was a relationship between the range of rotation and the grade of injury. Patients of severe neurological involvement had small range of rotation.
