A study of complications of cervical spinal operations in the aged.

The purpose of this study was to determine the factors which affect the postoperative complications in aged patients having cervical spinal operations. Thirty-one patients underwent the evaluation. There were 21 complications in our series. The groups with respiratory disturbance, and poor neurological functions developed many complications. On the other hand, the group with normal preoperative examination showed few complications. Therefore, we conclude that we gave the same care to the latter group that we gave to the younger aged group.
