A New Sesquiterpene from Curcuma heyneana

A new guaiane sesquiterpene named oxycurcumenol (V) was isolated from a steam-distilled essential oil fraction of Curcuma heyneana (Zingiberaceae) together with germacrone (I), dehydrocurdione (II), isocurcumenol (III) and curcumenol (IV). Its structure was determined as V on the basis of spectroscopical and chemical studies.
