Studies on the Constituents of Cnidii Monnieri Fructus

From a polar fraction of a methanolic extract of Cnidii Monnieri Fructus (ripefruit of Cnidium monnieri), five new compounds, i.e. three benzofuran derivatives, cnidiosides A (1), B (2) and criidiol b (3), and two monoterpene derivatives, cnidioside C (4) and cnidiol c (5) were obtained. The structures of 1-5 were determined as 2-O-β-D-gIucopyranosyl-2-hydroxy-4-oxy-4,5- furo-phenylpropionic acid, 2-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-2-hydroxy-3-methoxy-4-oxy-4,5-furo-phenyl- propionic acid, 2-hydroxy-3-methoxy-4-oxy-4,5-furo-phenylpropionic acid, 3-O-β-D-gIucopyrano- syl-8-hydroxylinalool and 6-β-hydroxyIinaloyloxide, respectively, by spectroscopic means.
