Analysis of Acyclic Diterpene Glycosides in Lycii Folium

A high-performance liquid chromatographic method was established for simultaneous analysis of three acyclic diterpene glycosides [lyciumoside-I, lyciumoside-II, lyciumoside-III], which are characteristic components of Lycii Folium. The HPLC system used an ODS reversed-phase column, aqueous acetonitrile as the mobile phase, and a UV absorption-monitoring system at 206 nm. The samples were prepared by boiling Lycii Folium in 95% methanol to included 0.1% KOH for 3 h. The recovery rate of added lyciumosides was over 97.9% for all three components. The lyciumoside contents of commercial Lycii Folium measured by this method, were: lyciumoside-I, 0.034-0.33%; lyciumoside-II, 0.008-0.36%; lyciumoside-III, 0.021-0.22%.
