New Method to Model the Equivalent Circuit of the Pulse Generator in EFT/B Test

This paper presents an accurate and systematic method to model the equivalent circuit of pulse generator in the EFT/B (electrical fast transients/burst) test. Firstly, a new analytical expression is presented to describe the generator's charging and discharging process based on physical analysis with all coefficients decided by manufacture's specified pulse, and then, the transfer function of the pulse forming network in Laplace domain is deduced. Based on the network's transfer function and its corresponding circuit topology presented in this paper, the generator's equivalent circuit can be realized directly and can be adjusted to meet the specification from different manufacturer conveniently. The simulation results of the equivalent circuit are validated by the specified waveform under different termination respectively.
