Simulation of Permanent Magnetic Actuators with Multi-magnetic Circuit for High Voltage Vacuum Circuit Breakers

The objective of this paper is to propose an improved permanent magnetic actuator with high velocity characteristics to satisfy the requirements of the high voltage vacuum circuit breaker. The actuator has two components to realize the function of holding and driving, respectively. The simulation results present that the average closing velocity of the armature was 2.15m/s and the initial opening velocity of the armature was 3.60m/s and the average opening velocity of the armature was 4.24m/s. The simulation results suggest that the improved PMA satisfies the requirement of high voltage VCB.
